The Ordinary AHA/BHA Peeling Solution

WOWWW! That’s all I can say about this product. I don’t think I’ve ever raved about a product so much before. I used it one night and then the next morning, I convinced a lot of my coworkers that they needed this product in their life. I’m not even kidding you when I said I immediately noticed a difference in my skin when I first used this product. My skin was sooooo soft. This is supposed to be a dupe for baby facial by Drunk Elephant (which I also love) and let me tell you, I think it might be better. The best part? This product is under $10. Yes, I know! Crazy, right? If I haven’t convinced you already, please please go get this product. Full disclosure, it does burn a little bit because it’s a strong peel. I would definitely start off just doing it once a week and then gradually bring yourself to twice a week.

Multi-colored nails

I’ve been seeing this all over Pinterest and I’ve been obsessed. I recently got bored and decided to try out this trend one day with a couple of pastel colors that I had and it looked so cute! If you know me, I’m more of neutral girl but I’ve been trying to test the waters with some brighter colors (especially for summer). If you’ve been loving this trend but are scared to test it out, start with different shades of one color and try it out! I promise you, it’ll look super cute!

Urban Decay All Nighter Spray

The Florida heat is NO JOKE! We have been hitting like 100 degrees here. So my makeup has been sliding off my face by the end of the day lol. I have oily skin to begin with so the heat and the humidity are for sure not my friends. To make my makeup last throughout the day, I’ve been spraying this on and it’s been doing wonders but the next product is the real savior.

Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation

So I’m not going to lie, I loved and then didn’t like this product. When I first bought it, I was like wowwww it’s so matte and keeps me matte all day long. The problem was that I was testing it out in winter and my skin got so dry that I hated it. I switched to my tride and true Lancome foundation, but it’s not cutting it for these warmer months. I started using this again and my makeup isn’t going anywhere lol I love it! But I ran out so now I have to restock.

Fashion

Neon shoes

Okay, before you roll your eyes and skip to the next one, hear me out. Yes, neon shoes can have a tendency to look kind of ratchet butttttt I think they can be super tasteful as well. I don’t wear a lot of color. I’m trying to get better at incorporating it more and a great way to ease into it, is through shoes! I picked up a pear of neon yellow sandals and they literally can make an outfit. Definitely a must have this summer.

Sundresses

It’s sundress season!!! My favorite time of the year 🙂 A dress is a magical item in your closet that makes you look like you tried when you just threw on a piece of clothing. These are my go-to’s because I’m all about being effortless. Be on the lookout with a post rounding up some of my top picks from some of my favorite stores.

Music

Before I Let Go – Beyonce

So I’m late to the game on this one. I’ve heard pieces of this song because of the challenge that goes with it but when I heard the whole song for the first time, I literally listened to it 2 days straight lol. I LOVE THIS SONG. You ever have a song that just makes you happy when you hear it? That’s this song for me. It’s a great summer song and it’s pretty much on all of my playlists right now.

Cross Me – Ed Sheeran

Okay Ed Sheeran, I see you! Another song that genuinely makes me happy when I hear it. I blast it in my car and I’m pretty sure everyone that’s driving around me thinks I’m crazy but that’s okay!

Podcasts

The Good Life w/ Stevie and Sazan

Sazan is one of my favorite bloggers and has been for a long time! She’s just one of those people that you feel like if you met in real life, you would be friends. I love her style and her personality and also love that she’s a Christian! She has a podcast with her husband that’s super uplifting and it’s a great pick me up to get you through the work week. Topics vary week to week, but it always interesting and her husband cracks me up.

Inspiration

Rainbow Salt

I found her through another podcast I listen to called Thick and Thin. If you’re feeling kind of bleh or just need an inspirational kick in the butt, please go read some of the things she’s written. I have sooo many of them saved and I post a lot of them on my story too because they are so relatable. They are just really great reminders.

I LOVE jewelry! Like LOVE it! And this was never the case before. When I was growing up, you could not catch me wearing a lot of jewelry. I would only wear the same stud earrings everyday. If you would’ve told me that I would wear huge dangly earrings, layered necklaces and watches, I would’ve thought you were lying! But the older I got and the more I developed my own personal style, I realized the importance of it. I think a good accessory goes a long way! Any piece of jewelry can instantly dress up an outfit, give it a little more pizaz and add a little more razzle dazzle (I have no idea why I decided to use those words, but I’m going to roll with it lol). And while I love a good statement earring (one that’s relatively cheap) there are some jewelry pieces that I don’t mind spending a little more money on because I know they will be timeless.

I think my love for jewelry really started when I started working at Cartier in college. I know! I was spoiled seeing all of the beautiful jewelry around me. Besides realizing that I have expensive taste lol, I also discovered an underestimated piece of jewelry that deserves a little more attention: a watch. Now, I have an apple watch and while I absolutely love it, it does have it’s limitations: It’s just very casual. I know I can get a metal band and do different things with it, but it’s just not the same. At the end of the day there is a screen that lights up and it doesn’t really scream dressy to me. So, when Jord (pronounced Yode) reached out to me to work with them, I was really excited because I’ve been wanting to try something new. I can be extremely picky when it comes to my watches because a watch is a piece of jewelry that you’ll have for awhile.

When I’m looking for a watch, I look for:

  • A classic design. Something that leans more on the simple side.
  • Dainty, dainty, dainty! I have small wrists so I don’t like anything too bulky.
  • An adjustable/customizable band. Did I mention I have small wrists lol.
  • Quality. I want something that’s going to last.

As you can tell, there’s a a couple of things I need my watch to have before I even consider it. You gotta have high standards in life, you know? LOL. So when I tell you that I love the Jord Sier watch, I really do love it. It’s elegant, it’s classic, it’s dainty, it’s simple but still makes a statement and the quality is amazing! All of the Sier watches come with two bands, a leather one and a metal one. I personally love the metal band, but I’ll switch it out for the leather one sometimes. Any watch you get, you can customize the band size. So all my skinny wrist girls, there is a watch for us lol! And can we please talk about the watch face! The black marble just stands out with the rose gold surrounding it. I am here for it and I love it!

I’ve seen Jord all over social media and while they are known for their craftsmanship on their wood watches, they have so much more to offer. I really do think that there’s something on the sight for everyone from the more masculine wood watches, to the dainty Sier, to even Apple Watch bands! And I’m happy to announce that there’s a giveaway so you get a chance to get your own Jord watch or get one for your boyfriend or your girlfriend or your mom or maybe the whole family! All you have to do, is click THIS link and fill out the giveaway form. The best part is that even if you don’t win, you’ll still get 10% off your order. You’re welcome 🙂

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.

Like I’ve mentioned in a previous post, my smile is very important to me and I always try to take care of it so it stays perfect. I think that probably explains why I have 600 laughing pictures on my Instagram 😂(I’m totally exaggerating, it’s more like 200 jk). So when Smile Brilliant reached out to me to collab again, it was a no-brainer :). Let me tell you a little back story. Even though my smile is super important to me, I HATE the dentist. I know what you’re thinking, “Makeda, hate is a pretty strong word.” But no, I need you to understand the severity of the situation lol (I’m super dramatic). Even though I hate the dentist, I LOVE getting my teeth cleaned and the feeling after. I’ve always wondered if switching to an electric toothbrush would give me a similar feeling.

Now I’ve used an electric toothbrushes in the past, but nothing like this particular brush. It was more of the $10-$15 ones that I would see in the store when I was a kid.  To be honest, I don’t even know if they make electric toothbrushes for that price anymore. Regardless, I knew I needed something substantial if I was going to make the change. At the beginning of this year, I started researching electric toothbrushes but I couldn’t decide on one. I was like hmmmmm, I could buy a pack of four toothbrushes at the dollar store or buy a toothbrush that’s going to be like $70+ for a good one. And while a pack of four toothbrushes for $1 is very cost efficient lol it wasn’t doing a very good job of giving me that deep clean I really needed. And I’m not going to lie, it’s an investment, but if there’s one thing that I know, it’s that the dentist is expensive and the more things you can do at home to prevent further complications the better!

There are a lot of great features that come with the cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush. My favorites are the five settings you can choose from: clean, white, massage, gum care and sensitive. While I’ve tried out all of them, the ones I love the most are the clean, white and gum care settings. The first time I used the toothbrush, it was such an experience that I was like, “I guess I’ve been brushing my teeth the wrong way for the last 20+ years lol.” I couldn’t believe how clean my teeth felt. Some other things I liked about this brush are:

  1. It alerts you (vibrates) when you should move to another quadrant of your mouth (30 seconds for each)
  2. It’s on a timer that turns off when you should be finished brushing your teeth (2 minutes total)
  3. You’re left with the, “I just went to the dentist” clean feeling

I promise you guys that after using this toothbrush, I don’t think I can go back to my four pack of toothbrushes lol. It is soooo worth it. It’s something that you have to use everyday but can make such a big difference. I feel like I’m actually getting all of the plaque and taking care of my gums the right way instead of just winging it. After the first day of using it, I went into work the next morning and completely raved about it! Because I love it so much, I’ve teamed up with Smile Brilliant to host another giveaway! One of my lucky followers will have their very own cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush system ($119 in value). The system comes with two brush heads, the toothbrush and a charging dock. I usually keep mine on the charging dock but the toothbrush has a very long battery life. To enter, all you have to do is click this LINK. I’ll be updating my Instagram for when the giveaway will be closed so make sure you’re following me! And if you really want to test it out and you still think it’s a little pricey, you can use my code: makedafarrelltb20 for 20% off your purchase of the system. Which makes it a little bit better 🙂

Having a new home to decorate and make my own is so exciting. I’m constantly moving things around and trying to set up everything exactly how I want it. It’ll never be “finished” because I know I’ll constantly be changing things especially as my style evolves. Even though I love how my apartment is right now, there are still some things I’ve been eyeing and dying to get my hands on lol #confessionsofashopaholic. See below for links to everything in the first issue of currently craving!

Are you allowing yourself to be happy? This is a question I started asking myself and quickly realized that I was not allowing myself to be happy at all. Have you ever been in a season or period of your life, where things have not been going particularly well? Hello, adulting? lol I think I was just so used to not being happy that even when things were going well in my life, I didn’t even recognize that it was something that I should be happy about. I only saw the negative. Things were starting to turn around and I was still moping around like the world was falling. I’ve mentioned in a blog post before that I started going to counseling. I really do want to write a whole blog post on it because it has helped me tremendously. Anyway, I’ve been doing it for a couple of months now and this was one of the things we uncovered during one of our sessions. Now, I’m the type of person that once you make me aware of something, I can kind of stop it before I start spiraling (another reason why counseling really works for me). But if you’re not like that I wanted to share some of the things that have helped me, shift my mindset and allow myself to be happy and to celebrate the good things going on in life.

Finding the positive in every day – So this is an exercise that I started doing every morning. As I’m driving to work and talking with my mom on the phone, I talk to her about at least one positive thing that happened the day before. It sounds super juvenile and you’re probably like what is this bologna that you’re saying, but I PROMISE it’s worth giving this a shot. What this does is, even if the day before was a horrible day, you’re still finding one good thing about it. I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks now and it has drastically helped. A tip is to try and focus it on the area that is bringing you the most negativity. For example, if it’s work, try to find something positive that happened at work.

Take a moment to celebrate – I am the first to admit that I am the worst at this. I think it’s partially because we are a part of a generation that is constantly wanting to do better and be better. While this is a great thing, it’s also about celebrating the little moments and not being too hard on yourself. It’s about finding that balance. SOOO if you present a project at work and you kill it, or if you decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator, you CELEBRATE. Pat yourself on the back, take a moment to acknowledge your victory no matter how big or small it is. Okay, so sometimes I don’t celebrate the right way like I’ll spend unnecessary money on clothes or celebrate working out with a donut lol but at least I’m celebrating.

Even though you may not like the season you’re in, put attention on the things you enjoy. Discover the things that bring you joy and do them! I’m beginning to realize that life is really too short to be focused on the negative. We have to much to do in this world to be held back.
